FIE Standard 1 of 3 – Shoresh

Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) is a cognitive intervention program that can be applied in a one-on-one setting or in the classroom. For individuals with special needs, FIE is used as a remediation program while higher-functioning learners utilize the program as an enrichment tool.

Prerequisites:

The course is open to university students, educators, psychologists, clinicians, and other professionals interested in cognitive intervention. Applicants are encouraged to read in advance the theoretical material available here.

Course Syllabus:

  • Introduction to the theory of Structural Cognitive Modifiability;
  • Introduction to the Theory of Mediated Learning Experience
  • Analysis of deficient cognitive functions in regular and special needs populations;
  • Criteria and principles of mediation;
  • Goal and sub-goals of the clinical and educational application of the FIE program;
  • FIE Lesson planning and preparation of “bridging” exercises;
  • Comprehensive instruction in the use of the following FIE instruments: Organization of Dots; Comparisons; Analytic Perception; Orientation in Space I
  • Introduction to the digital version of the Instrumental Enrichment program.

Mastery of FIE theory and instruments is evaluated by means of a questionnaire presented to the course participants on the last day of the course.

Full attendance of training activities is required.

Certification:

Course participants will be awarded a Certificate of Instrumental Enrichment Mediator Level 1 (of 3) upon successful completion of the entire course requirements.

The certificate is valid for four years from its issue date and is renewed subject to the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) conditions:

  • Submittal of a verification form of FIE implementation to Feuerstein Institute reflecting at least 30 hours of work with FIE-1 (of 3) instruments. Forms in different languages are available here.
  • Participation in annual online or “live” CPD seminars organized by the Feuerstein Institute or/and local Authorized Training Centers, or attendance of three additional FIE or FIE Basic courses.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:

The Feuerstein Institute reserves the right to cancel any course that has less than 10 participants registered. Fees for courses canceled by the Institute will be refunded in full. In cases where the participants cancel, there is a $100 processing charge for reimbursement of workshop fees for cancellations made before the registration deadline of June 20, 2025. There are no refunds for cancellations after the registration deadline.
