Prerequisites

The course is open to university students, clinicians, and educators interested in the cognitive mediation approach to ASD.

Course Overview

The Feuerstein approach to ASD is based on the more general Feuerstein theory of mediated learning experience and cognitive modifiability.

The following specific topics are discussed during the course:

  • An alternative approach to the description of a person with ASD features, not via the identification of ASD symptoms but, on the contrary, via the search for “islets of normalcy”
  • Dynamic cognitive assessment as a technique for discovering the learning potential of persons with ASD
  • Enhancement of clients’ cognitive functions via intervention based on Feuerstein’s Cognitive Enrichment program
  • Development of social-emotional skills of children with ASD
  • Communication skill-building with children with ASD
  • Mediating with parents of children with ASD

Certification

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance for the Feuerstein Approach to Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) course.
