At the Feuerstein Institute, we believe in the profound impact of Mediated Learning Experience (MLE). Our courses are designed to transform teaching methods with the Feuerstein wisdom and thoery. Please enjoy these highlights the experiences of participants from around the world who have joined our recent courses, “A Deeper Dive in MLE” and “Thinking Memory” with Dr. Jeanne Zehr, sharing their insights and personal growth stories. Thank you Jeanne for all your work!

“Thank you for guiding us through the Think Memory course. It’s been an enriching five weeks. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness in shortening the lunch breaks so we in Asia don’t have to stay up too late. Though starting earlier didn’t happen, I’m touched by your consideration – is that how mediating compassion looks like?”

– Siew Luan, Singapore, Thinking Memory

“Mediated learning helps transform mechanical, difficult learning into meaningful problem-solving through the right questions and respecting time. The process of defining the problem, comparing options, and providing logical evidence helps guide the learner toward resolution. This course strengthened my understanding of mediated learning versus direct instruction and its impact on cognitive functions.”

– Mariarosaria Guastafierro, Italy, CPD Seminar: A Deeper Dive of MLE

“Every course I’ve attended has inspired me to continue using MLE in my teaching. Practical mediation tips, like ‘The Belief Pledge’ and ‘The Time Song,’ have become invaluable tools for my young students. Actions and jingles make learning magical, especially for nursery school children, giving them a sense of understanding and agency. Feuerstein methods have revolutionized my teaching journey, and I’m grateful to have applied them, even in challenging situations.”

I have the honor of addressing you to discuss the pressing need we, the “seniors,” have for your Instrumental Enrichment Program, both for the benefits it can provide us and for what it could do to alleviate the distress of elderly individuals in general.

In France, many services are dedicated to children, whether they have autism, Down syndrome, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, learning difficulties, rare diseases, etc. Fortunately, a range of professionals – psychologists, neuropsychologists, speech therapists, psychomotor therapists, as well as day hospitals and workshops – are made available for these young individuals.

Unfortunately, this is not the case for elderly people like my husband, who is 94, and me, 87. When my husband, a mathematical philosopher, began exhibiting strange behaviors ten years ago, a friend advised me to consult Adriana Pariente, who had greatly helped her husband, a nuclear engineer who lost his memory after anesthesia. After three months of intensive work with Adriana, he managed to use his phone again. Indeed, in the middle of the night, he woke up and sent a text message to his son.

After the death of this friend, Adriana saw my husband, and in just three sessions, she quickly realized that he should rather see a geriatric neurologist, as his cognitive abilities were still remarkable. In fact, he was beginning to suffer from Lewy body dementia and eventually went to a nursing home near my place, where I visit him almost every day.
The third person who benefited from Adriana Pariente’s talents is me. Last year, I began to experience difficulties in finding words. My family doctor advised me to see a speech therapist. That’s when I remembered Adriana and her Instrumental Enrichment Program, which is broader and richer than traditional speech therapy.

For 6 or 7 months, we worked together twice a week, for an hour, and sometimes two hours. I loved this program. The variety and richness impressed me. Through the exercises, I realized that I was entirely capable of retaining words and maintaining my attention. At the end of each session, Adriana provided me with workbooks to use at home. I completed homework, crosswords, and other interesting exercises that she corrected during our next session.

Those seven months of work with Adriana are unforgettable. Unfortunately, in December 2024, I contracted Covid and subsequently underwent hip surgery. It was a purgatory. Adriana offered to come once a week to work with me at home. I already owe her a lot, and I did not want to take advantage of her kindness. I hope from the bottom of my heart to be able to return to her, with her expertise and knowledge, to preserve my memory.
I beg you to accept, Mr. Feuerstein, the expression of my distinguished sentiments.
